Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport – Welcome to Rwanda
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional safari guide from Cheetah Africa Safaris. After a short briefing about your safari, transfer to your hotel in Kigali for relaxation. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy an optional city tour featuring local markets, craft shops, and panoramic viewpoints overlooking Kigali. Day 2: Kigali City Tour – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, embark on a guided Kigali City Tour, visiting the moving Kigali Genocide Memorial, local craft markets, and historical landmarks that tell Rwanda's remarkable story of resilience and transformation. Later, enjoy a scenic drive north through Rwanda's beautiful rolling hills to Volcanoes National Park. The journey offers magnificent views of terraced hillsides, lush countryside, and rural villages. Arrive in the evening and relax at your lodge. Driving Time: Approximately 2.5–3 hours. Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking – Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village Experience
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before beginning your exciting Golden Monkey Trekking adventure. Golden monkeys are playful, endangered primates found only within the Virunga Mountains. The trek through bamboo forests offers fantastic photography opportunities and unforgettable wildlife encounters. In the afternoon, visit the Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village to learn about traditional Rwandan culture, music, dance, local cuisine, and community conservation efforts. Return to the lodge for dinner. Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Uganda)
After breakfast, depart Rwanda and cross into Uganda via the Cyanika Border. Continue through the beautiful Kigezi Highlands, often referred to as the "Switzerland of Africa" because of its spectacular rolling hills and terraced landscapes. Arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to almost half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas. Spend the evening relaxing while preparing for tomorrow's unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure. Day 5: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi
Today marks the highlight of your safari. Following an early breakfast, report to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers before setting off into the ancient rainforest. Your gorilla trek may last between 2 and 7 hours depending on the movement of the gorilla family assigned to you. Once found, you'll spend one magical hour observing these gentle giants as they feed, groom, play, and interact in their natural habitat. This intimate wildlife encounter is widely regarded as one of the greatest wildlife experiences on Earth. After the trek, return to your lodge for relaxation. Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Enjoy breakfast before departing Bwindi for Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive passes through spectacular countryside, tea plantations, rural villages, and scenic viewpoints. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy an evening game drive searching for elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs, and other wildlife. Day 7: Morning Game Drive – Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
Rise early for an exciting sunrise game drive across the Kasenyi Plains. Look out for lions, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, waterbucks, topis, giant forest hogs, and numerous bird species. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing boat cruise along the famous Kazinga Channel, one of Africa's highest concentrations of hippos. Day 9: Chimpanzee Trekking – Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary
After breakfast, head to Kibale Forest for an exciting chimpanzee trekking adventure. Besides chimpanzees, the forest hosts several monkey species including red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, and blue monkeys.
